Honesdale Pennsylvania is the county
seat for Wayne County; the Court House is magnificent and Central
Park is a beautiful centerpiece with its soft grass, sparkling fountain,
and stately old trees.
Honesdale has some interesting trivia surrounding it. Known as
the Birthplace of the American Railroad, the Stourbridge Lion was the
first commercial steam engine to run in the USA.
Irving Cliff, which overlooks the
town, was named for Washington Irving,who was
said to have scaled the cliff.

When
I was a little girl, it was a great treat to go to Honesdale shopping,
especially at Christmas. I loved seeing the star shining down from Irving
Cliff, and the same "Christmas Trees" have lined Main Streets lamp posts for
years!
